Cartridge Depot was established from humble beginnings when the business was started in a garage 22 years ago. Since 2012 the business operates out of a 1 500m2 head office located in the east of Pretoria. The business re-manufactures, imports, distributes and sells printer cartridges under its own Registered Trademark brand (EclipseTM) and purchases, distributes and sells original equipment manufacturer (“OEM”) printer cartridges as well as complementing products like printing paper and memory devices through its own network of Cartridge Depot stores and online through its website.
On 21 December 2015, the Cartridge Depot shareholding was purchased by Tanditrix (Pty) Ltd, an investment company with Frank de Ornelas, Manny de Canha and Martin Schermers as shareholders. Manny and Martin are the appointed directors of Cartridge Depot and are directly involved in the day-to-day management. Cartridge Depot was converted from a Close Corporation (“CC”) to a private company (“(Pty) Ltd”) on 7 December 2015.
Production, inventory, distribution and logistics are managed and controlled from the head office. Each store has its own full time employees and they are supported by a support team from head office that provides back office support and field support.
At the date of the acquisition Cartridge Depot had 13 self-owned stores, since then the network has grown to 23 stores. See store locator for list and details of current stores.
This coupled with the current growth and the assurance that the systems, procedures and support structures are in place, the directors have embarked on an exciting growth strategy of franchising. This will open up a national growth strategy and ensure that the Cartridge Depot footprint grows rapidly on a national level offering the Eclipse brand value of affordable printer cartridges to a larger consumer base.
